This is an easy sweater with minimal finishing: the sleeves are picked up and worked from the shoulder down, so there are only the side seams to finished; the button bands are worked in garter stitch as you knit the sweater.
The bobbles are sewn on.
The sweater is a roomy, drop-shoulder cardigan with garter stitch edging. The matching hat has a garter-edged bottom; to make a more snug fit, you can work a knit 1 purl 1 rib at the bottom.
This pattern is for sizes 6,12 or 18 months (finished chest measurement: 19/21/23") plus a matching hat.
The yarn called for is worsted weight to work up at 4 sts/1" in stockinette (straight) stitch on size 7 needles. This pattern is shown in navy blue with red, pink, peacock, lavender, medium blue and yellow bobbles, and dark blue buttons. Feel free to be creative with color and button choices!
