Sacque: Begin at lower edge. Cast on 225 sts. Purl 2 rows.
Pattern Row: * K 1, yo, k 2, sl 1, k 2 tog, psso, k 2, yo, repeat from *, end k 1, purl back. Work 5 1/2 inches of pattern, end with purl row. (K 1, k 2 tog) across 7 patterns (38 sts), bind off 3 for armhole, (k 1, k 2 tog) across 12 patterns (74 sts), bind off 3 for armhole, (k 1, k 2 tog) over last 7 patterns. Work on last 38 sts for left front as follows: K 1 row, purl 2 rows. Work stockinette st for 2 1/2 inches. Bind off 14 sts at neck edge. Dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 4 times. Bind off rem 20 sts. Break yarn. Fasten yarn at next st on needle, work over 74 sts for back of yoke; K 1 row, purl 2 rows, work stockinette st even until as many rows as front yoke. Bind off. Break yarn.
Fasten yarn at next st on needle, work right front yoke as before, reversing shaping. Sew shoulder seams.
Sleeve: Both sleeves may be worked at same time if desired, using 2 balls of yarn. For each sleeve, cast on 65 sts, purl 2 rows and work in pattern for 6 inches. Bind off.
Sew sleeve seams and sew into garment.
Crochet a tiny scallop of ch 2, sl st in next around garment, with longer loops for buttonholes. Sew buttons and add embroidery if desired.
Bonnet. Cast on 105 sts, purl 2 rows, and work in pattern for 3 1/2 inches, ending with purl row. K 1 row, purl 2 rows, casting on 4 sts at end of each purl row (113 sts).
Crown. Row 1. K 1, * yo k 2 tog, k 12, repeat from *, end yo, k 2 tog, k 11. Purl each row back. K 1, * yo, k 3 tog, k 11, repeat from * , end yo, k 3 tog, k 10. Repeat this row, dec 1 st in each section until 24 sts rem. K 2 tog on next k row. Break off, leaving enough yarn to draw last 12 sts tog. Fasten and sew seam of crown.
Neckband. Pick up 53 sts from right side of work. K 1 row, purl 1 row. Bind off. Badd crocheted scallop as for sacque and insert ribbon in pattern near front. Add embroidery if desired.
Boottee. Cast on 49, p 2 rows. Work pattern for 2 1/2 inches, ending with purl row.
Beading. K 1, * yo, k 2 tog, k 2 repeat from *, end k 3 tog. Purl 18 sts on first needle, 12 on next, 18 on next. Drop main yarn. Join extra yarn at right side of instep (center needle), work stockinette st on 12 sts for 1 1/2 inches, end with purl row. Break off.
With main yarn, k 18, and with same needle, pick up and k 15 sts on side of instep, k 12 on next needle, and with third needle, pick up and knit 15 sts on opposite side of instep, k 18. Purl 1 row on 78 sts, k 2 rows, work stockinette st for 1 inch, end with purl row. P 1 row, k 2 rows, binding off 6 sts at each end of last row. Break yarn.
Join yarn on center needle, and work sole in garter st, joining to sides as follows: * sl 1 k 10, sl next st on side needle and k 3 tog, turn, repeat from * once. Repeat from *, except k 2 tog, until 21 sts remain on each side needle. Then k 3 tog at end of each row until 15 sts remain, k 2 tog until 8 sts remain, k 3 tog at end of each of next 2 rows, bind off 12. Break yarn, leaving end to sew heel and back seam. Edge as for sacque and bonnet and add ribbons and embroidery.
