Crocheted Baby Bootee Set No. 1217

Materials:  Bear Brand Knitting Worsted 10-12 ounces,  1 ball Bucilla Crochelle, 1 button, 18 inch neck zipper, Bone Crochet Hook No. 6.

Gauge:  5 stitches = 1 inch

Abbreviations:

st---stitch dc---double crochet sc---single crochet
 sk---skip ch---chain *  *---repeat between
sl st--slip stitch inc--increase lp--loop

Bunting:  Make a chain 26 or 28 inches long.

Row 1.  Sc in second st from hook, * ch 1, sk 1 st, sc in next *, repeat across, ending sc in last st, ch 1, turn.

Row 2.  Work in back lp only.  Sc in sc, * ch 1, sk ch 1 of previous row, sc in next *, repeat across, ch 1, turn.

Repeat Row 2 until work measures 40 inches.  Fasten off.

Fold ends to center.  Sew in zipper and crochet together across lower end.

Edge with double Bucilla Crochelle as follows:  * Ch 2, sk 1 st, sl st in next *, repeat around.

Hood:  Begin at front edge.  Chain 68.

Work in pattern (See Rows 1 and 2 for bunting above) for 2 1/2 inches.

* On next row, make 3 sc in center st, with no ch between.

Make 2 rows even in pattern (ch 1 between each 2 sc) *.  Repeat * to * until hood measures 6 1/2 inches from front edge straight across to back edge.

Fold back edges together and crochet or sew seam.

Beading around neck:  Join yarn at lower front edge.  Ch 4, * dc in end of next row, ch 1 *, repeat across, end dc in last.

Ch 14, work back on chain and beading in pattern, drop yarn.

With separate yarn, add ch 13 at opposite side of front.  Pick up main yarn and continue in pattern to end of chain.  Continue in pattern, increasing in center back, and about half way between front edge and center back as needed for easy fullness.

Make cape 6 or 7 inches deep (or more if desired).

Lap fronts.  Add chain loop on one side for buttonhole, and sew button on the other side.

Edge as for bunting and run cord through beading.
