Sacque. Begin with sleeve. Row 1. Chain 52, sc in second st, and in each st across (51 sc). Ch 1 and turn at end of every row.
Row 2. *Hdc (yo, insert hook in st, draw lp through, yo, through all lps on hook) in next, picking up both lps of st, sc in next, back lp only*, repeat across, ending with hdc. Repeat Row 2 until work measures 6 inches. (Hdc should fall on hdc, and sc on sc throughout pattern.)
Ch 43, work back on ch and across sleeve, drop main yarn. With separate yarn, add 42 ch. Pick up main yarn and continue across ch. Work in pattern over 135 sts for 3 1/2 inches. Work over 59 sts for 2 inches (First front). Fasten off.
Back. Sk 9 sts for neck, join yarn and work over 67 sts for 3 1/2 inches, ending at top. Drop yarn.
Second front. With separate yarn, ch 60, work in pattern over 59 sts for 2 inches, (same number of rows as first front) ending at top, ch 9, join to base of st where yarn was dropped, and fasten off. Pick up main yarn, work across chain and front, then work over 135 sts for 3 1/2 inches, fasten off.
Other Sleeve. Join yarn in 43rd st and work over 51 sts until second sleeve measures same as first. Fasten off. Sew side and sleeve seams.
Collar. Join yarn at neckline of either front, work in pattern around neck. Increase 1 st at each end of each row, and make 3 sts in one place in sixth row, center back. An increase will be either (hdc, sc, hdc) or (sc, hdc, sc) as required to keep the pattern. Make collar as wide as you wish and inc as necessary to make it lie flat.
Edge. Sl st with double yarn around entire garment, so that ch formed by sl st lies on the top side of work. Insert cord made with double yarn, ch st, through hdc around neck and through cuffs for ties. Trim ends of cord with knots, tassels, or pompons.
Cap. Row 1. Ch 5, join in ring, ch 1, 12 sc in ring. Join, ch 1, turn at end of every row.
Row 2. Hdc and sc in each st around (24 sts).
Row 3. Sc in back lp of each sc, hdc through both lps of each hdc around.
Row 4. Same as Row 3.
Row 5. *Sc in sc, hdc in hdc, sc in sc (hdc, sc, hdc) in next hdc *, repeat around. (6 increases).
Row 6. Same as Row 3.
Row 7. Sc in sc and hdc in hdc until directly above inc in second row below, yo, insert hook in the remaining horizontal st at base of inc, complete a dc, on top of work, continue in pattern to next inc, repeat dc as above and continue around in same pattern.
Row 8. Sc in each sc, hdc in each hdc, (sc and hdc) in top of each dc. Note: If row has sc just before dc, then make (hdc and sc) in dc in that order, to keep the pattern----the 2 kinds of st must alternate!).
Row 9. Same as Row 7 except make dc under previous dc (on top of work to form ridge). There will be 8 sts between dc's, and each succeeding row will increase 2 sts in each panel. Repeat rows 8 and 9 until there are 22 sts between dc's. Then work without inc and without dc's until work measures 4 1/2 or 5 inches from center. Fasten off.
Visor. Row 1. Choose a ridge for center front. Join yarn in 18th st from center (do not count center st), work in pattern to center, make a 3 st inc in center, and continue across next 18 sts.
Row 2. Sl st to second st (dec), work even in pattern, omitting last st (dec).
Row 3. Decrease again at each end of row, increasing in center st as for Row 1
Row 4. Same as row 2
Row 5. Same as Row 3
Row 6. Same as Row 2.
Fasten off.
Ear Flap Section. Row 1. Sk 5 sts from visor, join yarn, work even in pattern around back to within 5 sts of visor.
Rows 2, 3, and 4. Work even in pattern.
Rows 5-11: Increase 1 st at the beginning and the end of each row. Fasten off.
Edge. With double yarn, sl st around as for sacque, keeping the ch st on the outside of work. Insert a cord around the outer edge of flap. May be tied under the chin when flap is down, or on top when used as cap. Trim cord ends as for sacque.
Bootee. Begin with sole. Ch 20.
Row 1. 2 dc in fourth ch from hook, 1 dc in each of next 15, 5 dc in next, 1 dc in each of 15 down opposite side of ch, 2 dc in last, join to top of 3 ch.
Row 2. Ch 3, 2 dc in each of next 3, 1 dc in each of next 13, 2 dc in each of next 7, 1 dc in each of next 13, 2 dc in each of next 3, 1 dc in same st as 3 ch, join.
Row 3. Ch 3, (1 dc in next, 2 dc in next) 3 times, 1 dc in each of next 14, (2 dc in next, 1 dc in next) 7 times, 1 dc in each of next 13, (2 dc in next, 1 dc in next) 3 times, 1 dc in same st as 3 ch, join.
Row 4. Ch 3, * sc around the spoke of first dc, hdc around spoke of next dc, inserting hook from back *. Repeat * to * around (68 sts). Join, ch 1, turn for each row, and keep pattern, hdc in hdc, and sc in sc. Make 6 more rows. Fasten off.

Fasten instep in shoe as follows: Catch last lp on hook into 15th st from center back on right side of shoe, 2 sc at corner, sc across toe, inserting hook from right to left under each of the original 13 sts of instep, 2 sc at corner, sc instep and shoe together along left side, ending in 15th st from center back.
Beading. With toe of shoe facing you, ch 4, *sk 1, dc in next, ch 1 *, repeat across instep and around shoe, ch 1, join to third st of 4 ch (21 dc, counting 4 ch).
Top: Row 1. Work in pattern, hdc in each dc, sc in each ch (42 sts). Join, ch 1, and turn for each row. Repeat until bootee is 2 inches high. Insert cord in beading, and sl st around top with double yarn.
