Materials:  Bear Brand Babyfair or Pompadour 5-1 ounce balls, 1 ball Bucilla Crochelle for edges.  Bone Crochet Hook No. 1.

Gauge:  Chain 10 = 1 inch

Notes:  Bernat baby fingering yarn gives newborn to 3 month size for 2008 outfit pictured below.

Abbreviations:

ch---chain	dc---double crochet	gr---group

Sacque:  Row 1.  Ch 72, dc in 4th st from hook, dc in each of next 10, 5 dc in next (corner made), dc in 12, corner, dc in 20, corner, dc in 12, corner, dc in 11, ch 1, turn.

NOTE:  Work in back lp of st for every row.

Row 2.  Sc in each dc, 3 sc in center st of each corner.  Repeat Row 2 15 times.

Row 18.  Ch 3, dc in each sc, 5 dc in center st of each corner.

Row 19.  Ch 4, dc in same st, dc in next, * 3 dc in next, dc in each of next 2, sk 2, dc in each of next 2 *, repeat * to * across, catching corners of yoke together at underarm, add 3 dc in next, dc in each of last 2, after last repeat, ch 1, dc in same st as last dc, ch 1, turn.

Row 20.  Sc in 1st dc, sc in ch 1 and in each dc, with 3 sc in center dc of each gr, and sc in 4th st and in 3rd st of turning ch, ch 4, turn.

Row 21.  Sk to 3rd sc from center st, * dc in each of 3, 3 dc in center, dc in each of 3, sk 2 *, repeat across, ending ch 1, dc in end sc, ch 1, turn.

NOTE:  Rows 20 and 21 make pattern, and each succeeding row of dc will increase 1 dc on each side of center.  Repeat until work measures 6 inches from yoke, end with dc row.

Sleeve:  Join yarn at underarm st, ch 3, set on pattern as for lower part of sacque (8 gr).  For each sc row after the first, sk last dc of each gr and first dc of next, so that there will be no increases except at center, and sleeves will be straight.  Repeat pattern rows (be sure to turn work at end of each row) until work measures 6 inches.

Cuff:  Sc in first and third of 3 increase sts, with 2 sc in second st (32 sc), join, turn, work 3 more rows sc even.

Bonnet:  Row 1.  Ch 25, sc in second st from hook and in each st across, ch 1, turn.

Row 2.  Sc in each st across.  Repeat Row 2 30 times.  Set on pattern st, 5 gr on each side, one at each corner, and 2 across original ch (14 gr).  Work as for sleeve, without increases except in center of each gr, until work measures 4 1/2 inches.  Add 1 row dc without center increase, and sc closely across neckline, drawing to shape by skipping a st now and then.

Edge entire sacque and bonnet with Bucilla Crochelle, * sc in each of 2, ch 3, sl st in top of last sc for picot *, and repeat * to * around.
