Materials: Five 1-ounce balls Bear Brand Wonderized Babyfair or Pompadour. One ball for edging. Bone Hook #2.

FIRST MEDALLION. Ch 6, join in ring. Ch 5, dc in ring, (ch 2, dc in ring) 6 times, ch 2, join to third st of ch 5.
Row 2. Ch 1, sc in same st, * 3 sc under ch 2, sc in top of dc *, repeat * to * around, join to ch 1.
Row 3. Ch 3, sk 1, dc in next, ch 3, 5 dc under dc just made, (sk 1 sc, dc in next, sk 1 sc, dc in next, ch 3, 5 dc under last dc made) 7 times, joining last dc of gr to top of first ch 3. Fasten off.
SECOND MEDALLION. Make rows 1 and 2 as for first medallion. Ch 3, sk 1 sc, dc in next, ch 3, remove hook from lp, insert in first dc of second 5 dc gr of first medallion, draw lp just dropped through, make 5 dc under last dc made, (sk 1 sc, dc in next) twice, ch 3, join as above to first 5 dc gr of first medallion and complete as for first medallion.
For THIRD, FIFTH, EIGHTH, and TENTH medallions, join first and second 5 dc gr to the fourth and third 5 dc gr of previous medallion.
For FOURTH, SIXTH, SEVENTH, and NINTH medallions, join first and second 5 dc gr to sixth and fifth 5 dc gr of previous medallion.
Border for Yoke: Join yarn in third dc of lower 5 dc gr on left front (sixth 5 dc gr of this medallion). Ch 7, dc in same st, sc in top of ch 3 of next gr, ch 4, dc in third dc of same gr, sc in top of ch 3 of next gr, ch 4, dc in third dc of same gr, ch 4, dc in same third dc, sc in st which joins 5 dc gr of the 2 med, sl st along last ch 4 to top of first dc, (dc, ch 4, dc) in third dc of next 5 dc gr (fourth gr of this med), sc in top of ch 3 of next gr, ch 4, dc in third dc of same gr, sc in top of ch 3 of next gr, ch 4, (dc, ch 4, dc) in third dc of same gr, continue in this pattern around outside of yoke, ending at top of right front with dc in third dc of group.

Row 2 of Border. Ch 1, sc in same st, 3 sc under each ch 4, sc in each dc in each sc, 3 sc in corner dc. (sk 1 st at each inside corner.)
Pattern Stitch. Row 1. Ch 3, sk 1 sc, dc in next, ch 3, 5 dc under last dc made, * dc in next sc, sk 1 sc, ch 3, 5 dc under last dc*, repeat * to * across, catching corners of yoke together at underarm. (Omit sk 1 sc at each underarm) (42 groups). End dc in corner of yoke, ch 3, turn.
Row 2. * Dc in third dc of gr, ch 3, 5 dc under dc just made, dc in top of dc between groups *, repeat * to * across, ending dc in top of ch 3 of previous row, ch 3, turn. Repeat Row 2 until work measures 7 inches. Fasten off.
Sleeve. Join yarn at underarm, ch 3, sk 2 sc, dc in next, ch 3, 5 dc under dc, * sk 1 sc, dc in next, sk 2 sc, dc in next, ch 3, 5 dc under last dc*, repeat * to * around, join last dc of gr to top of first ch 3, ch 3, turn (10 gr). Work in pattern until work measures 7 inches.
Cuff. Row 1. Ch 1, * sk 3 dc of gr, sc in each of next 2, sc in dc between groups*, repeat * to * around, join.
Row 2. Ch 4, sk 1 sc, dc in next, * ch 1, sk 1 sc, dc in next *, repeat around, join to third st of ch 4 with a final ch 1.
Row 3. Ch 1, sc under each ch 1, and sc in each dc.
Row 4. Ch 3, sk 1 sc, dc in next, ch 3, 5 dc under dc, (sk 1 sc, dc in next) twice, continue around in pattern. Join. Fasten off.
Beading at Neck. Join yarn at front edge. Ch 4, sk 1, dc in next, ch 1, sk 1, dc in next, continue around. Fasten off.
BONNET: Begin at center back. Make 1 med as for yoke (do not fasten off), ch 3, turn at end of each row.
Row 1. Dc in first dc of 5 dc gr, ch 3, 5 dc under dc, sk 1 dc in same gr, dc in next, sk 1 dc, dc in next, ch 3, 5 dc under last dc, dc in dc between groups, continue around in this pattern (16 gr). Join, ch 3, turn.
Make 4 rows same as Pattern Row 2 for Sacque: * Dc in third dc of gr, ch 3, 5 dc under dc just made, dc in top of dc between groups *, repeat * to * across, ending dc in top of ch 3 of previous row, ch 3, turn.
Work in same pattern over 14 groups until work measures 8 or 9 inches from center back. Turn back 4 or 5 rows for brim. Sc closely across neckline, drawing to shape by skipping an occasional stitch.
BOOTEE: Begin with sole. Ch 21. Row 1. 2 dc in fourth ch from hook, 1 dc in each of next 16, 5 dc in next, 1 dc in each of next 16 down opposite side of ch, 2 dc in last, join to top of ch 3.
Row 2. Ch 3, 2 dc in each of next 3, 1 dc in each of next 14, 2 dc in each of next 7, 1 dc in each of next 14, 2 dc in each of next 3, 1 dc in same st as ch 3, join.
Row 3. Ch 3, (1 dc in next, 2 dc in next) 3 times, 1 dc in each of next 15, (2 dc in next, 1 dc in next) 7 times, 1 dc in each of next 14 (2 dc in next, 1 dc in next) 3 times, 1 dc in same st as ch 3. Join. (70 dc counting ch 3)
Row 4. Ch 4, * sk 1 dc, dc around the spoke of next dc, inserting hook from back right to left, ch 1*, repeat * to * around, joining to third st of ch 4.
Row 5. Ch 1, sc in same st, * sc under ch 1, sc in next dc*, repeat * to *, join to ch 1.
Row 6. Ch 3, sk 2 sc, dc in next, *ch 3, 5 dc under dc just made, (sk 2 sc, dc in next) twice*, repeat * to * around, joining last dc of 5 dc group to top of first ch 3.
Row 7. Ch 4, * sc in top of ch 3, ch 1, hdc in third dc of 5 dc group, ch 1, dc in top of dc between 5 dc groups, ch 1*, repeat * to * around, join to third st of ch 4.
Row 8. Ch 1, sc in same st, * sc under ch 1, sc in sc, sc under ch 1, sc in hdc, sc under ch 1, sc in dc*, repeat * to * join to ch 1. Fasten off.
INSTEP: Row 1. Beginning with first st to left of 3 ch in center back, count on left side of shoe to 28th st. Join yarn in this st, and with toe of shoe toward you, draw lp in same st. Retaining all lps on hook, draw up lp in each of next 12 (13 lps on hook). Work off as follows: yo, thorugh 1, *yo, through 2*, repeat across. The lp left on hook is always first st of next row.
Row 2. Insert hook under second vertical bar, draw up lp. Retaining all lps on hook, draw up lp in each vertical bar except last. Now, insert hook through last vertical bar and st directly behind it and draw up lp. (13 lps) Work off as for Row 1.
Make 6 more rows in same manner.
Row 9. Draw up lp under second vertical bar, yo, through 2 (sc made). Repeat across, ending with 1 lp on hook.
Fasten instep in shoe as follows: Catch remaining lp on hook into 15th st from center back on right side of shoe (do NOT count 3 ch) and with instep piece toward you, sc it st for st to right side of shoe, 2 sc at corner, sc across toe, inserting hook from right to left under each of the original 13 sts of instep, 2 sc at corner, sc instep and shoe together along left side, ending in 15th st from center back (do NOT count 3 ch).
Beading. With toe of shoe facing you, ch 4, sk 1 st, dc in next, ch 1, * sk1 st, dc in next, ch 1 *, repeat around, joining to third st of ch 4 (22 dc, counting ch 4).
Top. Ch 3, (sk 1 st, dc in next, ch 3, 5 dc under dc just made, sk 2 sts, dc in next) 3 times, (sk 2 sts, dc in next, ch 3, 5 dc under dc just made, sk 2 sts, dc in next) 5 times, joining last dc of 5 dc gr to top of ch 3. Ch 3, turn, at end of each row.
Work in pattern as for sacque for 5 more rows. Fasten off.
Turn last 2 rows down for cuff.
Edges for sacque, bonnet brim, and bootees. Ch 3, sl st in next st, and repeat around. Edge entire sacque, outside border of yoke, both edges of bonnet brim, and cuffs of bootees. Run ribbons in beading at neck of sacque, and in bootees, and run ribbon through the pattern in center of bonnet brim.
