Materials:  Four 1-ounce balls Bear Brand Babyfair or Pompadour.  Bone Hook #2.

Gauge:  Chain 10 = 1 inch

Sacque:

Row 1.  Ch 58, dc in fourth st from hook, and in each st across (56 with turning ch). 

Work even dc for 8 rows. 

Work over 18 dc for 3 rows, ch 15, 13 dc on ch (count turning ch), dc on 18. 

Work 8 rows dc (29 dc). 

Sk 20 dc at neckline, join yarn in next. 

Work over 18 dc for 3 rows (add ch 11 with separate yarn). 

Work over 29 dc for 8 rows.

Pattern Stitch.  Row 1.  Ch 6, sc in same st, ch 3, dc in same st as sc, * sk 2 dc, (dc, ch 3, sc, ch 3, dc) (group) in next *, repeat across front yoke (10 groups), (with separate yarn, join corners of yoke with ch 7), make 1 group in center of ch 7, 19 groups across back, etc., (41 groups).  Ch 1, turn.

Row 2.  Sc under first ch 3, * ch 2, sc under next ch 3 *, repeat across.

Row 3.  Group under ch 2 in top of each group of preceding row.  Repeat rows 2 and 3 until work measures 6 1/2 inches from yoke.

Sleeve.  Join yarn in center of ch 7 at underarm.  Ch 3, group in corner st of yoke, group in end of each second dc row around sleeve (11 groups), join to ch 3.  Work in pattern until sleeve measures 6 inches.

Cuff.  Sc under each ch, adding an extra sc to make 28 or 30, work 2 rows of dc, edge with Row 1 of pattern st.  Fasten off.

Ruffles on Yoke.  Row 1 of pattern st, worked through folded edge of alternate dc rows, sk 3 dc between groups.  Edge neck and entire yoke with same st.

Bonnet.  Row 1.  Ch 4, join, ch 3, 23 dc in ring.

Row 2.  Ch 3, 2 dc in every fourth st around

Row 3.  Ch 3, dc in first st, 2 dc in every fifth st around.

Row 4.  Ch 3, dc in each of 2, 2 dc in every sixth.  Make 7 more rows in same manner (90 dc).

Row 12.  Same as Row 1 of pattern st, sk 3 between (20 groups).  Work in pattern for 7 rows.  Make ruffles as for yoke, putting group in each sc of Row 2 of pattern st.  Make 1 row sc across base of bonnet, drawing to shape by skipping occasional sts.

Bootee.  Begin with sole.  Ch 20.  Row 1.  2 dc in fourth ch from hook, 1 dc in each of next 15, 5 dc in next, 1 dc in each of next 15 down opposite side of ch, 2 dc in last, join to top of 3 ch.

Row 2.  Ch 3, 2 dc in each of next 3, 1 dc in each of next 13, 2 dc in each of next 7, 1 dc in each of next 13, 2 dc in each of next 3, 1 dc in same st as 3 ch, join.

Row 3.  Ch 3, (1 dc in next, 2 dc in next) 3 times, 1 dc in each of next 14, (2 dc in next, 1 dc in next) 7 times, 1 dc in each of next 13, (2 dc in next, 1 dc in next) 3 times, 1 dc in same st as 3 ch, join.

Row 4.  Ch 3, 1 dc around the spoke of each dc, inserting hook from back, right to left, join.  (68 dc, counting 3 ch).

Rows 5 and 6.  Ch 3, dc in each dc, join.

Row 7.  Ch 3, yo, draw up lp in first dc, insert hook in next dc and draw up lp, yo, through 3, yo, through 2, (dec dc made), dc in each dc until last 2, make dec dc, join and fasten off.  This is center back (66 dc).

Instep.  Row 1.  Beginning with first st to left of 3 ch in center back, count on left side of shoe to 27th st.  Join yarn in this st, and with toe of shoe toward you, draw lp in same st.  Retaining all lps on hook, draw up lp in each of next 12.  (13 lps).  Work off as follows:  yo, through 1, *yo, through 2*, repeat across.  The lp left on hook is always first st of next row.

Row 2.  Insert hook under second vertical bar, drdaw up lp.  Retaining all lps on hook, draw up lp in each vertical bar except last.  Now, insert hook through last vertical bar and st directly behind it and draw up lp (13 lps).  Work off as for Row 1.

Make 6 more rows in same manner.

Row 9.  Draw up lp under second vertical bar, yo, through 2 (sc made).  Repeat across, ending with 1 lp on hook. 

Fasten instep in shoe as follows:  Catch remaining lp on hook into 15th st from center back on right side of shoe (do not count 3 ch) and with instep piece toward you, sc it st for st to right side of shoe, 2 sc at corner, sc across toe, inserting hook from right to left under each of the original 13 sts of instep, 2 sc at corner, sc instep and shoe together along left side, ending in 15th st from center back (do not count 3 ch).

Beading.  With toe of shoe facing you, ch 4, *sk 1, dc in next, ch 1*, repeat across instep, ending in same 15th st where you began joining instep to shoe, ch 1, sk 1, dec dc in next 2 sts, ch 1, repeat * to * (above) 11 times, sk 1, dec dc in next 2, ch 1, join to third st of 4 ch (21 dc, counting 4 ch).

Top.  Ch 3, dc in each ch 1 and in each dc around (42 dc).  Make 4 more rows of dc.  Trim with 2 rows of ruffle (row 1 of pattern stitch).
