Materials:  Five 1-ounce balls Bear Brand Wonderized Pompadour Babyfair.  Bone Hook #2.

Gauge:  Chain 10 = 1 inch

Sacque:  Row 1.  Ch 76, dc in fourth st from hook, dc in each st across (74 dc, with turning ch).  Ch 3, turn at end of each row.

Row 2.  Dc around spoke of next dc, inserting hook from front, *dc around spoke of each of next 2, inserting hook from back, dc around spoke of each of next 2, inserting hook from front*, repeat * to * across.  Repeat row 2 until work measures 5 1/2 inches.  Ch 52, turn.

Repeat Row 1 on chain and continue across back in pattern, (with separate yarn add ch 50 for other sleeve), continue with main yarn as for first sleeve.

Repeat Row 2 for 15 rows. 

Work next 7 rows in pattern over 70 sts. 

Ch 18, work in pattern over 86 sts for 14 rows. 

Work over 38 st until work measures 5 1/2 inches (same number of rows as for back).  Fasten off. 

Sk 30 sts for back of neck, join yarn, and work other sleeve and front to match. 

Sew underarm and sleeve seams.  Join yarn at side seam and work 6 rows of sc (take up back st only and turn at end of each row) around entire garment, skipping sts in inside corners of neckline to keep work flat and square, and increasing at outside corners (3 sc in center st each time). 

Mark evenly places for buttonholes (if desired) on left front, and on third row of sc, ch 2, sk 2, for each buttonhole, on fourth row work 1 sc in each st of ch.

Cuff:  Work sc in 28 or 30 sts around and finish as for edge of sacque.  Fasten off.

Cap:  Row 1.  Ch 4, join, 6 sc in ring, join.  (Ch 1 and turn after joining of each row, and take up back st only).

Row 2.  2 sc in each st.

Row 3.  * Sc in next, 2 sc in next *, repeat around.

Row 4.  Sc in first st, * 2 sc in next, sc in each of next 2*, repeat around, end 1 sc in last st, join.

Row 5.  Same as Row 4, with sc in 3 sts between increases and end sc in last 2.

Row 6.  Sc in 3, 4 sc between increases.

Row 7.  Sc in 3, 5 sc between increases.

Row 8.  Sc in 4, 6 sc between increases.

Continue in this manner through Row 18 (108 sc).  Work without increases until work measures 4 inches from center.

Make 1 row of dc even, and add 3 rows dc in the basket weave pattern, finishing with 4 rows of sc as for edge of sacque.  Fasten off.

Ear Flaps.  Row 1.  Ch 15, sc in second st from hook, and in each st of ch, 5 sc in last st, sc in each st down opposite side of ch.  Ch 1, turn, at end of each row.

Row 2.  (Back st only for remaining rows.  Sc in each of 14, 2 sc in each of next 3, sc in 14.

Row 3.  Sc in 16, 2 sc in each of next 2, sc in 16.

Row 4.  Sc in 15, 2 sc in next, sc in 4, 2 sc in next, sc in 15.

Row 5.  Sc in 15, 2 sc in next, sc in each of next 2, 2 sc in each of next 2, sc in each of next 2, 2 sc in next, sc in 15.

Row 6.  Sc in each st (42 sc).

Row 7.  Sc in 15, 2 sc in next, sc in 3, 2 sc in next, sc in 2, 2 sc in next, sc in 3, 2 sc in next, sc in 15.

Row 8.  Sc in 17, 2 sc in next, sc in 10, 2 sc in next, sc in 17.

Row 9.  Sc in each st (48 sc).  Fasten off.

Visor.  Row 1.  Join yarn at edge of cap, directly below the center of one panel, ch 3, dc in each of 16, 2 dc in each of next 2, dc in each of 17.

Row 2.  Same as Row 2 of sacque.

Row 3.  Make 19 dc in pattern, 2 dc between last dc made and next dc, continue in pattern 19 more dc (40 dc).

Row 4.  Same as Row 3, increasing by 2 dc between dc's in center of visor (42 dc).

Row 5.  Dc in pattern, no increase. 

 Add 3 rows of sc around visor, increasing as necessary to keep work flat, and keeping both sides of visor alike.  Place flaps in position adjoining visor on either side, and join to cap by working one row of sc around.  Add crocheted cords to ends of flaps, which may be worn either tied up on top or under the chin.

Bootee.  Begin with sole:  Ch 20.  Row 1.  2 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in each of next 15, 5 dc in next, 1 dc in each of next 15 down opposite side of ch, 2 dc in last, join to top of 3 ch.

Row 2.  Ch 3, 2 dc in each of next 3, 1 dc in each of next 13, 2 dc in each of next 7, 1 dc in each of next 13, 2 dc in each of next 3, 1 dc in same st as 3 ch, join.

Row 3.  Ch 3, (1 dc in next, 2 dc in next) 3 times, 1 dc in each of next 14, (2 dc in next, 1 dc in next) 7 times, 1 dc in each of next 13, (2 dc in next, 1 dc in next) 3 times, 1 dc in same st as 3 ch, join.

Row 4.  Ch 3, 1 dc around the spoke of each dc, inserting hook from back, right to left, join.  (68 dc, counting 3 ch).

Rows 5, 6, 7, 8.  Work in pattern, join, ch 3, turn at end of each row.  Fasten off.

Instep.  Count 29 st from center back (count ch 3) on left side of shoe, join yarn, ch 3, dc in 11, ch 3, turn and work in pattern for 5 more rows. 

Fasten instep in shoe as follows:  Catch remaining lp on hook into 14th st from center back on right side of shoe (do not count 3 ch) and with instep piece toward you, sc it st for st to right side of shoe, 2 sc at corner, sc across toe, inserting hook from right to left under each of the original 12 sts of instep, 2 sc at corner, sc instep and shoe together along left side, ending in 14th st from center back (count 3 ch).

Top.  With toe of shoe toward you, ch 3, dc around spoke of next dc, inserting hook from back, continue around in pattern, join to top of ch 3.  Continue in pattern for 6 more rows, and add 5 rows sc as for edge of sacque.  Fasten off.

Insert crocheted cord in first row above instep for ties.
